The Department of Community Medicine, KIMS, observed World Immunization Week on 30th April 2025 at the Rural Health and Training Centre (RHTC), Kalarabanka and UHTC Neeladri Vihar with a series of awareness activities aimed at highlighting the critical importance of immunization in safeguarding public health.
The event was graced by the presence of eminent dignitaries including Prof. (Dr.) C. B. K. Mohanty, Pro VC KIIT; Dr. Ajit Mohanty Director General KIMS; Dr. V. K. Sengupta M/O IC RHTC Kalarabanka; Dr. Sai Chandan Das, Associate Professor of Dept of Community Medicine; and Dr. Alpana Mishra Professor Department of Community Medicine, who chaired the proceedings and addressed the audience on the vital role of vaccines in disease prevention and health promotion.
The dignitaries enlightened the audience about the importance of vaccination and acknowledged the efforts of ASHA workers in all National Programmes. The highlight of the program was a short skit performed by the interns, depicting real-life scenarios and emphasizing the need for timely immunization. The performance was well-received by a diverse audience comprising beneficiaries, patients, healthcare staff, and ASHA workers, and served as an engaging medium for health education.
In addition, posters prepared and presented by the interns illustrated the key messages of the immunization campaign, providing clear and accessible information about vaccine schedules, benefits, and safety. These visual aids played a significant role in raising awareness and reinforcing the theme of the event. The event was concluded with a vote of thanks. The initiative successfully imparted relevant and practical knowledge to the attendees, thereby contributing to the ongoing efforts to increase immunization coverage and protect community health.
