Be more people-centric, Dr. Samanta urges lab professionals of KIMS

Founder of KIIT and KISS Dr. Achyuta Samanta lauded the efforts of the laboratory staff of the Kalinga Institute of Medical Sciences (KIMS) and urged them to be more people-centric.

“We have realized the importance of the lab staff during the COVID-19 pandemic for their yeomen service and we are really thankful. However, they need to gear up with the present scenario and deliver as per the quality parameters to make KIMS a hospital the best diagnostics centre in the State,’’ he  said while speaking as the chief guest at the concluding day of the celebration of the Lab Professional Week, 2023, at KIMS Auditorium on Saturday.

Pro-Vice Chancellor Prof CBK Mohanty said “though the week’s celebration started in 1975 in India, the professionals in US had started it way back in 1922 so this is a Centenary year and I am proud to address the gathering on this day. He called for standardization and timely delivery of the lab reports so that KIMS would set a new benchmark. People have started believing in evidence-based medication, so we have to be time bound.’’

KIMS Principal Prof .Ambika Prasad Mohanty in his speech called for better service delivery standards by the lab staff so that KIMS would be the most sought after healthcare destination in the State.

KIMS Medical Superintendent Prof RC Das termed the lab staff as the “invisible and unsung heroes for their 24X7, 365 days service framework and hoped that they would set new standards and put KIMS in a new league.’’

Later, Dr. Sharmistha Choudhury, Assistant Professor Biochemistry of RG Kar Medical College and Hospital, Kolkata and Subhrabaran Chakrabarti, Application Specialist from Beckman Coulter joined as invited speakers and addressed the audience.

Among others, Group Director KIMS Dillip Kumar Panda, Lab Director KIMS Dr. Ambarish Padhee, senior faculty members and administrators were also present at the celebration. Cultural shows by the staff of the Lab Department were also staged.

Earlier during the day, an early morning walkathon was also organised, which started from KIMS gate and ended again there after passing through KIIT Square. Lab Director KIMS Dr. Ambarish Padhee flagged off the event. KIMS Campus Relations Director KP Diwedi and other senior staff members were also present. The walkathon was organised in order to promote health and wellness among the lab professionals.
