Academic Society, KIMS Organizes Student Seminar and Quiz on “World Hepatitis Day”
On the occasion of World Hepatitis Day, on 28th of July 2021, Academic Society of KIMS organized a Student Seminar and a Quiz under the guidance of AVM Prof. (Dr.) Rama Chandra Das, Vice Principal, KIMS and Chairperson of Academic Society. The aim of the event was to engage all the medicos who have been confined to their homes because of the pandemic. There was participation from all the batches of the Institution. The Student Seminar covered topics from Hepatitis A, B, C, E and its prevention and management.
The Student Seminar was inaugurated by Maj. Gen. (Dr.) P. K. Patnaik VSM, Principal KIMS and DG, KIMS Group, who motivated the students with his words while lauding the Academic Society for carrying out such an initiative for the first time in KIMS. It was followed by an address by Dr. A. C. Anand, HoD Gastroenterology who shed light on various important details about Hepatitis. He guided the students from the conception of idea up to its culmination into a mega event. Dr. Ratikanta Tripathy, Associate Professor, Pharmacology and Faculty Coordinator of Academic Society spoke about how the Academic Society was formed and appreciated the efforts by the students.
The Student Seminar started with the presentation by Meghaparna Mandal (2019 Batch) and was followed by presentation by Marzia Faiz (2018 Batch), Utsab Ganguly (2017 Batch) and Dikshit Khandelwal (2017 Batch) on HAV & HEV, HCV, HBV and Prevention of Hepatitis respectively. The students’ presentations were crisp with details about the topic and newer advancements. Dr. Dibyalochan Praharaj, Gastroenterology Department guided the students with the presentations.
Finally, the event concluded with a vote of thanks by the Academic Society Secretary. This was followed by a quiz on Hepatitis which was conducted using Google forms. The event was a huge success with 500+ students participating in the student seminar and 70+ students taking part in the Quiz.
