World Photography Day observed at KIIT

On the occasion of World Photography Day, i.e. 19th August, 2019, School of Film and Media Sciences, School of Mass Communication and School of Fashion Technology of KIIT Deemed to be University organized a photography competition for the students of three schools at Campus-18.

The photographs were exhibited and judged by the eminent photographer and professor of History at Utkal University, Dr. Sanjay Acharya. Out of 10 shortlisted photographs which were exhibited, the First and Runner-up prizes were awarded to Riteek Das and Bandana Acharya respectively; the winners were awarded with a trophy and a certificate.

The theme provided was ‘Freedom’. The competition received several outstanding photographs that realizes the theme of Freedom in a creative and unique way. Dr. Acharya addressed the brilliance of Photography as a medium of capturing time, giving meaning to life and discussed about the aesthetics of photography as an art form.

The session was also addressed by the coordinators of 3 schools – Mr. Bauri Raula of School of Fashion Technology, Mr. Ajay Kumar Mishra of School of Film and Media Sciences and Dr. Bidu Bhusan Dash of School of Mass Communication.

The coordinators inspired the students to involve more into photography and develop a creative eye towards the world. Ms. Nidhi Nyari and Ms. Sargam Saxena, students of Integrated Master of Communication and Journalism welcomed the guests and anchored  the programme.

Dr. Anurag Sahu proposed the Vote of Thanks. The programme was conceptualized by Mr. Susanta Bahinipati and Mr. Souptik Garai. It was given the shape by Prof. Himansu Sekhar Khatua, CEO of three schools. The session saw the excitement and involvement of students in making it a grand success.
