Workshop on Emerging Trends in Solar Energy Technology (ETSET)
A two day conference on Emerging Trends in Solar Energy Technology (ETSET) was organized by KIIT School of Electrical Engineering on 18th & 19th Feb’ 2019 at Campus 6. The main objective of the workshop was to understand the recent trends in the renewable energy sector with the focus on solar energy.
A number of highly experienced speakers from various industries shared their knowledge and thoughts on the different aspects of solar energy as an industry catering to the energy needs of the nation.
The session was kick started by Dr. Saranjit Singh, Director (IEC), Dr. C. K. Panigrahi, Dean, School of Electrical Engineering and a welcome address to all the Guests.
Mr. Subrat Das, CEO SembCorp placed a brief overview on the energy scenario in India and state of matter relating to renewable energy development.
Then, Dr. Kanak Mukhopadhyay, MD Agni Power addressed the gathering on the topic of emerging trends specifically about photovoltaics.
Mr. Prasant Patra, GM SoftBank continued on the same with an emphasis on the market dynamics.
Dr. Ishwar Hegde, Co-founder Suzlon and Sunfan presented his point of view along with the future road-map.
The post lunch session started with the talk of a veteran in the field of battery & storage technology by Mr. Debi Prasad Dash, Director IESA. The KIIT alumni shared his experience & thoughts on the field of storage (energy).
Mr. Sunil Badesra, Business Head Sungrow presented his idea & experience in the field of inverter technology and cost optimization opportunity in the Balance of System (BoS) to make solar energy more competitive.
Mr. Yukun Hu, Director (India) Sungrow reinforced the discussion by putting in his technical inputs.
Mr. Somasundaram. R, Head Strategy Mytrah Energy brought a very different & unexplored topic into the workshop i.e. “How a budding engineer seeking a career opportunity in the field of renewable energy in general, would proceed or should think of the topic?”
He gave a very beautiful and rare viewpoint on how to be adaptable and versatile in career to cope up with the corporate model of energy industry.
Mr. Chandra Sekhar Mishra, CFO Founder Crux Power shared his experience as an integrator start-up and explained how their company brings together all the components and make the overall system work as a whole.
Mr. J. P. Gupta, Consultant Energy Storage, California concluded the session by speaking on the latest development in this field and shared a few experience from NREL, USA and Sondia Lab USA.
Dr. Subrat Behera, Associate Dean (T&P, School of Electrical Engineering) concluded the session with a Vote of Thanks to all.
