Van Mahotsav Week: YRC KIIT Volunteers Plant Saplings

142

In an effort to raise awareness about the imminent threat of the climate crisis, volunteers from the Youth Red Cross (YRC) KIIT took part in a sapling plantation drive on the university campus during the Van Mahotsav week. Led by Counsellor Dr. Chitralekha Jena, the dedicated team of volunteers, including Archi Jyotirmayee Vishwanidhi, Shreya Sanyal, Leena Bajaj, Ambika Mishra, and Swaagtika Debata, planted saplings at various locations.

By planting saplings and spreading the message – “Each Green Step Counts”, the YRC KIIT volunteers hoped to awaken society to take better care of nature, be mindful of their actions, and advocate for stronger forest and environment protection laws from the government. As part of their initiative, they suggested adopting environmentally conscious practices such as choosing to gift saplings, seeds, and grow kits instead of flower bouquets, separating waste and composting organic materials, and advocating for better laws to safeguard forests and the environment.
