Training on Mental Health Awareness Conducted for Staff & Faculties at KIIT-DU “Mental Health Awareness and Well-being – Creating a Caring Campus”
To provide a harmonious and supportive environment for all faculties, staff and students, a Training Program on “Mental Health Awareness and Well-being (for) Creating a Caring Campus” was conducted on the 23rd of August, 2025 for staff and faculties spread across four online sessions to address the different stakeholders.
In consonance with the guiding principles and ideology of the Founder, KIIT, KISS & KIMS, Dr. Achyuta Samanta, training sessions are conducted for teaching and non-teaching staff members at regular intervals for their professional and personal betterment.
The context setting for the program was done by Dr. Manojna Panda, Additional Director- Training & Skilling, KIIT-DU. The program was designed by Training & Skilling Unit, HR Cell and aimed at sensitizing participants on mental health, create awareness, encourage open conversations, and equip participants to understand the common challenges around stress and mental well-being, learn practical coping strategies, and explore how we can create an environment that supports psychological safety and resilience across the university.
Dr. Samaresh Mishra, Director-Student Services & Professor-SCE delivered the welcome address. He highlighted the institution’s commitment to ensuring a safe and supportive environment for all the stakeholders and also emphasized on how this program is going to help in creating a student-friendly caring campus for all.
Dr. Jasobant Mahapatra, Founder HOD of Dept of Clinical Psychology, Mental Health Institute, SCB Medical College, Cuttack was the key resource person. He threw light on mental health, detecting early signs of stress, anxiety, and depression and also how to tackle the issues at all levels for harmony.
Dr. Pranab Mahapatra, Chairperson, University Counselling Cell and Professor-Psychiatry, KIMS shared practical insights and strategies and how we can create a supportive environment for staff and students across the university.
The program was well-received by the participants. The participants in the interactive sessions expressed that such initiatives not only spread awareness but also empower them to extend support. The session ended with summarizing the key takeaways and extending vote of thanks to all by Dr. Mishra.
