Students of KIIT Legal Aid and Assistance Clinic(KLAAC) visit Special Prison (Jharpada), Bhubaneswar
The Students of KIIT Legal Aid and Assistance Clinic (KLAAC) visited Special Prison (Jharpada), Bhubaneswar on 22th September, 2019 under the leadership of Mr. Sidhartha Sekhar Dash, Assistant Professor-I, Faculty Convenor, KLAAC with the assistance of Dr. H.C Padhee, Faculty-In-Charge, KLAAC.
The Programme was conducted under the guidance of Dr. Subash Chander Raina, Director, KIIT School of Law with special support from Sri Nirup Kumar, Member, KLAAC and Administrative Officer, School of Law.
Sri Subhakant Mishra, Superintendent, Special Jail, Bhubaneswar facilitated the students see the inmates of the prison and briefed them on prison conditions, situation and facilities. He shared his valuable experience in the prison administration and its challenges. The prison had various cells including for women, under-trial prisoners and convicts.
The students observed and interacted with the inmates as well as gained exposures on the life of the prisoners. The students critically assessed and learnt the practical aspect of the prison reform programme and its challenges.
