SPICMACAY Evening Program in KIIT

SPICMACAY is the abbreviated version of ‘Society for Promotion of Indian Classical Music and Culture Amongst Youth’. It is a voluntary movement and this society has its members from colleges and schools all over the world. KIIT is no exception and the SPICMACAY KIIT Chapter is a strong society with many active volunteers.

SPICMACAY KIIT Chapter in association with SPICMACAY Odisha and KIIT organized an evening program with Santoor Maestro Pt. Tarun Bhattacharya on 17th of September, 2019 at the Campus-7 auditorium. He was accompanied on the tabla by Shri Prosenjit Poddar. Tarun ji is one of the torchbearers of the Maihar Gharana. He played Raag Janasammohini in Jhaptaal and Teentaal.

Later he played one of his own compositions based on Raag Bhatiyali. The students of KIIT and KISS were present as audiences and this portrays the rich culture present in KIIT and KISS. The artists received a standing ovation after their performance was over and they were felicitated by  Dr. Shyam Sundar Behura, Dy. Director, Student Services.
