RDI Cell Hosts Research Colloquium on the Impact of Artificial Intelligence in Academics and Research
KIIT-DU continues to strengthen its research ecosystem through knowledge-sharing initiatives, academic collaborations, and meaningful engagement. The RDI Cell organized a talk under the aegis of the Research Insight Lecture Series on June 1, 2026, featuring Prof. Sourav Pal, Distinguished Professor of Chemistry at Ashoka University and former Director of IISER Kolkata.
The session commenced with a welcome address by Prof. Gopal C. Kundu, Director, RDI Cell, who greeted the distinguished speaker, invited guests, faculty members, and research scholars. Prof. Pal delivered an insightful lecture titled “The Impact of Artificial Intelligence on Teaching and Research,” highlighting the transformative role of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in modern scientific research.
While emphasizing the immense potential of AI, Prof. Pal underscored the importance of maintaining a balance between technological advancements and human intellect. He noted that future scientific breakthroughs will depend not only on AI-driven innovations but also on original thinking, academic integrity, and deep domain expertise.


Several distinguished academicians and researchers attended the event, including Dr. Arun Pati from COIR-QuTe, KIIT-DU; Dr. Arabinda Rath, Chairman and Managing Director of Hemalata Hospitals and Research Centre; Dr. Tapan Mishra, Associate Professor at NISER; Prof. Chinmoy Panigrahi, Director, School of Electrical Engineering; Dr. Shikta Singh from the Centre of Excellence for Applied Behavioral Sciences and Neuroscience; and Prof. S.K.S. Parashar from the SAS, KIIT-DU.
The programme was coordinated by Dr. Amlana Panda, Assistant Registrar (RDI), along with Dr. Khemraj Sharma and Mr. Sourasis Chattopadhyay.
The colloquium witnessed enthusiastic participation from research scholars and faculty members across various schools of KIIT-DU, all of whom benefited from the engaging discussion and valuable insights shared during the session. Eventually, this successful session reinforces KIIT-DU’s ongoing commitment to promoting innovation-driven research, nurturing a vibrant academic culture, and fostering excellence through meaningful scholarly interactions and collaborations.
