Online SIP on “Machine Learning using Python”at KIIT School of Electronics Engineering

School of Electronics Engineering, KIIT Deemed to be University conducted an online  Summer  Internship Program on “Machine Learning using Python” from 17th May to 5th June 2021. Ninety participants, including B. Tech, M. Tech & PhD students from KIIT as well as outside, registered for this internship.

Speaking at the inaugural ceremony on 17th May, Dr. Suprava Pattnaik, Dean SoEE highlighted the importance of Machine Learning and anticipated the outcome of the internship. Classes were conducted by five faculties from the School of Electronics. Participants were evaluated through programming assignments and quiz tests.

Dr. Vargav Appasani elaborated on the Basics of Python, Introduction to Machine Learning, Supervised vs. Unsupervised Learning, Reinforcement Learning, Classification vs. Regression, Logistic Regression and k-mean Clustering Algorithm.

Dr. Vimal K. Shrivastava discussed Artificial Neural Networks, Perceptron Learning, Multilayer Networks, Back propagation Algorithm, Training-Validation-Testing, Implementation Using Keras Libraries, RNN & Sequence Processing.

Dr. Suprava Pattnaik explained about Fundamental Concepts and Scikit Library implementations of  Decision Tree, Random Forest, Naïve Bayes Classifier, K-Nearest Neighbour, Linear and Nonlinear Classification using SVM, SVD, PCA and ICA.

Dr. Arighna Deb laid focus on the introduction to Computer Vision, Image and its Representation, Reading and Writing Images, Color Transforms, Histogram Processing, Blur & Noise Removal as well as Edge Detection.

Dr. Tejaswini Kar covered some recent research issues in image  processing with ML based solution, Haar cascade based object detection, image segmentation using simple thresholding and K means clustering technique and its implementation.
