The NSS team of KSBT & Community Engagement Cell believe in working with the needy people and help them to discover their own capabilities and encourage them to put their efforts in use at the right place and at the right time.

A special event was organized by NSS team of KSBT & Community Engagement Cell on 2nd November, 2019 with a motto of sharing “THE BOX OF HAPPINESS” to support the people of Village-BangaliSahi, the refugees who were helped by Government of Odisha for a piece of land to live near the State Botanical Garden, Nandankanan road, Odisha and let them know that they are not alone in their dream of getting a proper livelihood and meeting their basic requirements.

The session of the Day began with a procession by Volunteers in the village. The Village Head of BangaliSahi and other Dignitaries were welcomed by NSS Programme Co-ordinator of NSS-KSBT, Dr. Prabhat Kumar Rout & Add. Liaisoning Officer Ms. Madhusmita Panda, Community Engagement Cell-KIIT.

Village authorities welcomed the team of Volunteers into their village and assured them all sorts of co-operation needed in making the camp a success. During the First Day, Volunteers interacted with the people about their needs and ill-effects of  open defecation. Volunteers created awareness through door to door campaign on cleanliness, spread of diseases, importance of environment and judicious use of Electricity, Water harvesting and worth of ground water.

In order to stand with them and help them in every possible way, the members of NSS team of KSBT took an initiative to listen to their problems and prepared a list through a survey by reaching doorsteps of each member of the village. The NSS Volunteers pledged to stand beside the villagers and would try to solve their problems to the best of their ability. Eventually, the volunteers  shared their token of love by distributing Box of Sweets and Pen Packets to the children and their families as Box of Happiness.
