Monday Morning Talk on “BUDGET 2020-2021” conducted at KIIT
In the series of Monday Morning Talk today, KIIT School of Mass Communication invited two experts from industry and academia to deliver a talk on various aspects of Union Budget 2020-21. While Prof. S. N. Misra, Dean, KIIT School of Management delivered a talk on “Macro-Economics”, Mr. Basant Kumar Nayak, Senior Researcher of Centre for Youth and Social Development (CYSD) delivered a talk “No one left behind, reflections from Union Budget”.
In his talk Prof. Misra emphasized on facts and logic in order to justify any statement on budget. He told today India is not doing well in the areas of agriculture, industry, services and GDP growth. While on the other areas India has a progressive graph like forex and inflation. Further, he added India is on the path of jobless growth and he called it as the most important concern in the present context.
Mr. Nayak in his talk explained the term Union Budget and its objectives. He simplified the background and the major areas of subjects which are taken into account during preparation of budget. Further he added the budget should be based on the aspiration of the people of the nation. He emphasized on the Sustainable Development Goals and analyzed on indicators of SDGs. He also gave importance on three key factors those are People, Planet and Prosperity.
The session starts with the guest introduction by Ms. Sargam Saxena, 2nd year student of IMCJ. And at the end of the session Mr. Agniva Bhowmick, 2nd year student of IMCJ gave vote of thanks. During the session Dr. Bidu Bhusan Dash, Course Coordinator, KIIT School of Mass Communication, Ms. Ruby Nanda, Dr. Anurag Sahu and Souptik Garai were also present.
Notably, Monday Morning Talk is the flagship programme of KIIT School of Mass Communication, where eminent personalities from various walks of life connect with the budding journalists.
