Mega Digital ‘HR Konclave’: Panel Discussions & Workshops by KIIT School of Computer Engineering

The School of Computer Engineering, KIIT Deemed to be University organized two panel discussions and eight workshops during 28th-29th August 2020 as a part of Mega Digital ‘HR Konclave’. The Conclave was attended by more than 50 dignitaries belonging to top brass of leading companies from India and abroad along with more than 1900 students.

On 28th August, the School conducted Panel Discussion on ‘HR 4.0: Is The Workplace Ready For New Age Technologies Like Blockchain & AI’. Two panels deliberated upon People’s Perspective and Cultural Perspective of the topic respectively. The Panel -1 was moderated by Mr. Nathan S. V., Partner & Chief Talent Officer, Deloitte India and the panellists included, Mr. Magesh MS, Head-Human Resources, Societe Generale Global Solution Centre; Dr. Murali Padmanabhan, Sr VP, Global Head – Talent & Organization Development; Ms. Krishna Chakravarty, Associate Professor, School of Computer Engineering, KIIT-DU; Mr. Chaitanya N. Sreeniv, VP HR & HR Head, IBM India South Asia; Mr. Arthur F. Carmazzi, Chief Awesomeness Officer, Directive Communication International; and Mr. V. Venkata Giri, Chief Data Officer KFintech.

The Panel 1 was hosted by Dr. Manjusha Pandey, Associate Professor, and coordinated by Mrs. Mamta Motwani, Assistant Professor, School of Computer Engineering. Welcoming the panellists, Dr. Samaresh Mishra, Director opened the discussion by an introduction of KIIT and its achievements. Mr. Nathan S. V. said that intelligence and mind should be used wisely. Panel members emphasized that AI is on the peak in the industry and soon AI Bots will help companies in every aspect; but it will surely not replace humans. They suggested students go beyond their curriculum and learn new things.

The Panel 2 was moderated by Mr. Norberto Monarrez, Chief People Officer GyanSys and the panellists included Mr. Bijumon Jacob, Senior Vice President and Head of HR, Temenos India; Mr. Vijayshankar A., Director – People Advisory Services, EY; Mr. Ashish Kant Choudhary, Head Talent Management India, DXC Technology; Mr. Sanjay Ratha, Sr. Director HR, Gainsight; Mr. Arun G. Philip, Group Manager – HR, IBS Software Pvt. Ltd.; and Mr Satyajit Dwivedi, Director, Global Practice, Process Sensor & IOT, SAS.

The Panel was set with the initial context with an interesting retrospection on industry revolutions over the years by the moderator. The panellists provided an excellent coverage on how to scale up in the latest technologies and build capabilities which have business values. They focused on learning culture and also the importance of getting the right kind of attention from the leadership. They briefed the students on the role of HR to manage the cultural transformation, significance of block chain, and ML in recent days. They also emphasized the significance of continuous learning and the process of identification of training needs.  The discussion was hosted by Ms. Krishna Chakravarty, Associate Professor and coordinated by Mrs. Bindu Agarwala, Assistant Professor, School of Computer Engineering.

On 29th August, eight workshops were conducted through different online platforms like Google Meet, Cisco Webex, and Facebook Live streaming. The Workshop-1 titled “AI Technologies and The Future of Work” had Mr. Ashwin Srivastava, Co-founder of Sapio Analytics as the resource person. It was hosted by Mr. Rajdeep Chatterjee and coordinated by Dr. Debajyoty Banik as faculty coordinator and Mr. Subarno Lahiri as a student coordinator.

The Workshop-2 titled “Artificial Intelligence: The Next Digital Frontier?”  had Mr. Bikram Nayak,  Head Human Resources, LnT Nextas as resource person. It was hosted by Mr. Rajat Kumar Behera and coordinated by Dr. Mainak Bandyopadhyay as faculty coordinator and Mr. Rishabh Yadav as student coordinator.

The Workshop-3 titled “HR Analytics Can Drive Workforce Planning” had Mr. Sachin Nigam, Co-Founder, Goavega as resource person. It was hosted by Mrs. Minakshi Rout and coordinated by Mrs. Lipika Dewangana as faculty coordinator and Mr. Shubham Raj as a student coordinator.

The Workshop-4 titled “The Future of Work – Being Industry Ready, Preparing For Placements” had Mr. Yogja Singh, Associate Director HR, KPMG India as resource person. It was hosted by Ms. Santwana Sagnika and coordinated by Ms. Roshani Pradhan as a faculty coordinator and Ms. Swati Singh as a student coordinator.

The Workshop-5 was titled “EQ VS IQ Under Personality Development” and had Ms. Ruchi Ray, Talent Attraction Partner, Finastraas as resource person. It was hosted by Dr. Saurabh Bilgaiyan and coordinated by Ms. Junali Jasmine Jena as a faculty coordinator and Mr. Aman Aryan as a student coordinator.

The Workshop-6 titled “Artificial Intelligence: The Next Digital Frontier?”  had Mrs. Monika Marwah as a resource person. It was hosted by Mr. Kunal Anand and coordinated by Mr. Prabhu Prasad Dev as faculty coordinator and Mr. Subarno Lahiri as student coordinator.

The Workshop-7 was titled: “Millennial Workforce – Glimpse of the Future Career Planning” and had Mr. Subhajit Mazumder, Director Strategy, Microsoft as resource person. It was hosted by Ms. Sital Dash and coordinated by Dr. Mohit Ranjan Panda as faculty coordinator and Mr.  Rishabh Yadav as the student coordinator.

The overall coordination of the Panel Discussions and Workshops was done by Dr. Tanmay Swain, Associate Professor; Dr. Siddharth Swarup Rautaray, Associate Professor; Dr. Manjusha Pandey, Associate Professor, School of Computer Engineering; and Dr. Ipsita Nayak, School of Management, KIIT-DU as faculty coordinators and Mr. Udit Mishra, Ms. Divyasha, Mr. Nitin Sultania, Ms. Shrestha, Mr. Shashikant, Ms. Proteti as student coordinators.
