KIIT School of Computer Engineering organized a Meet up on NUA Dev V1.0 on 17th of August, 2019 at Conference Hall, Campus-15. Nerds United Alpha (NUA) is a gaming community to connect like-minded people, nerds and hardware enthusiasts. Its main motive is to raise awareness about the educational and entertainment perspective of GPUs in the present and upcoming scenarios via community driven platform. Participants across Odisha (KIIT, NIT Rourkela, ITER Bhubaneswar, Mind-Tree Solutions Bhubaneswar, BGU Bhubaneswar, NIIS Bhubaneswar etc.)  participated in the meet up.

In the Inaugural Session, the Welcome Address was placed by Prof. Samaresh Mishra, Dean, School of Computer Engineering, KIIT DU. He illustrated the vision of KIIT Deemed to be University in the development of R&D work. Also, he cited the success stories of students in national and international platforms.

Mr. Sunil Patel, Sr. Solution Architect – Deep Learning, NVIDIA Graphics Pvt. Ltd. delivered his invited talk on Artificial Intelligence (AI), Deep Learning in solving different real-time problems such as Driver less Cars. By explaining the Moore’s law, he  talked about the power of Graphics Processing Unit (GPU) in faster computation done at NVIDIA.

Mr. Amlan Panigrahi from Accenture (KIIT Alumni) and NUA Admin demonstrated the computation power of GPU by writing and executing the sample codes in CPU as well as in GPU. He established that GPU can perform the task in milliseconds in comparison to few seconds of execution in CPU. He also ascertained the live object detection through web camera and jetson nano, which is a portable GPU device.

Mr. Manish Kumar Choudhary (KIIT Alumni), Data Scientist Trainer, High Radius discussed about the ethics in AI through citing different examples.

The whole program was coordinated by Dr. Chittaranjan Pradhan, Associate Professor, School of Computer Engineering. In his speech, he focused on the current R&D work going on in the field of Deep Learning.
