KINS Observes World Hypertension Day with Month-Long Awareness Programme

World Hypertension Day is celebrated every year to raise awareness about the importance of early detection and better protection against hypertension.

The Department of Medical Surgical Nursing at Kalinga Institute of Nursing Sciences (KINS), a constituent of KIIT-DU, observed a month-long World Hypertension Day event, at the Smart Classroom, KINS.

This year’s theme was “Measure Your Blood Pressure Accurately, Control It, Live Longer.”

The event aimed to remind all adults to have their blood pressure measured accurately and to maintain control over it to ensure a longer, healthier life. The program commenced with a ceremonial lamp lighting by dignitaries, symbolizing divinity and harmony.

Prof. Asokan R., Head of the Department of Medical Surgical Nursing and In-charge of the R&D Cell at KINS, delivered the welcome address, generating enthusiasm among the audience. The guest lecture was delivered by Dr. Panchanan Sahoo, MBBS, MD (Medicine), DM (Cardiology) from PBMH, KIMS, KIIT-DU. Dr. Sahoo shared valuable insights into hypertension, its risk factors, and management strategies for a healthy lifestyle.

The programme was conducted under the valuable guidance of Prof. Dr. Niyati Das, Principal of KINS, KIIT-DU. The event concluded successfully with a vote of thanks proposed by Mrs. Reena Singh, Associate Professor of Mental Health Nursing at KINS.
