KIMS Faculties participated in MECON-2020 held at AIIMS Bhubaneswar

Medical Education Unit of AIIMS Bhubaneswar had organized a Pre-conference workshop on  23rd of January and Medical Education Conference on 24th of January, 2020. The theme was “Medical Education: Focus on Solutions, Not Problems”.

The Conference was attended by Faculties from KIMS Bhubaneswar, Dr. Nirmala Poddar (Assoc. Professor, Microbiology); Dr. Kumudini Panigrahi (Assoc. Professor, Microbiology) and Dr. Gyanraj Singh (Asst. Professor, Anatomy)  who participated in the Pre-Conference workshop and main conference. Dr. Dipti Patnaik (Professor, Microbiology); Dr. Nipa Singh (Assoc. Professor, Microbiology); Dr. Rajalaxmi Sarangi(Assoc. Professor, Biochemistry); Dr. Jyotirmayee Bahinpati (Assoc. Professor, Biochemistry) and Dr. Matuli Das (Asst. Professor, Ophthalmology) attended the main Conference while Dr. Nipa Singh presented a poster. 

The various topics which were discussed by the Guest Speakers :-
-Portfolio based teaching, learning & assessment, 
-Change Management, 
-The need for an eclectic approach to Medical Education,  
-Unconventional Learning methods, 
Symposia on:- 
-Teaching learning methods: Going beyond the classroom,
-Adapting to curricular change. 
Panel discussions on:-
-Issues in assessment and their solutions,
-Do we really practice what we preach in Medical education? 
A crossfire round was held on the following topics:-
-Microteaching – Does it really help?, 
-Is Internet hampering medical education? 
-Feedback – ritual/reflection and 
-Attendance in class – A compulsion/choice. 
Some participants were invited to talk on hurdles faced and innovations used in new institutes.
