The Foundation Day of Assam, Nagaland, Manipur, Meghalaya, Tripura, and two other states/UTs was commemorated on January 24, 2025, at New Abhishek Hall, Raj Bhavan, Odisha. The event was presided over by Dr. Hari Babu Kambhampati, His Excellency the Hon’ble Governor of Odisha.

As part of the Government of India’s Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat initiative, Raj Bhavan invited 96 students and 8 staff members from KIIT Deemed to be University (KIIT-DU), hailing from Assam, Nagaland, Manipur, Meghalaya, and Tripura, to join the celebrations. Attendees greeted the Governor and participated in a photo session. Three KIIT students from Assam—Mr. Mrituunjay Das, Mr. Avinash Yein, and Mr. Abhigyan Kalita—enlivened the event with a rendition of a traditional Assamese song.

The occasion highlighted the rich history, cultural vibrancy, and traditions of the Northeastern states, embodying India’s unity in diversity. Dr. Smruti Ranjan Das, Associate Dean (IE) of the School of Economics & Commerce, and Mr. Satyajit Das, Assistant Administrative Officer of Hostels, coordinated KIIT-DU’s participation.
