KIIT Students celebrated Chhath Puja
Chhath Puja was celebrated with intense enthusiasm amongst staff and students from the states of Jharkhand, Bihar and Uttar Pradesh on 2nd November, 2019 in Campus 6.
Chhath Puja, one of the most ancient Hindu Vedic festivals is celebrated with much fervour in states such as Bihar, Jharkhand and Uttar Pradesh. The festival that is observed over a period of four days is dedicated to lord Surya, the Hindu Sun God and his wife Usha. Over the days, pujas are performed to acknowledge their blessings and support in sustaining life on earth. It is so named because ‘Chhath’ means sixth, which is the sixth day of the month of Kartika. Chhath puja being one of the major festivals is always celebrated in a grand way at KIIT with much passion and devotion.
Around 400 students came for the Puja and gave Arghya. Prof. Hrushikesha Mohanty, Vice Chancellor; Prof. Jnyanaranjan Mohanty, Registrar; Mr. P.K. Chamupati, Joint Registrar(Admn.); Mr. Sudhir Kumar Rath, Dy. Registrar-Hostel and Dr. Shyam Sundar Behura, Dy. Director, Student Services graced the occasion.
