KIIT Student Counseling Cell Organizes Counseling Session on “FarEye Journey”
KIIT Student Counseling Cell organized a virtual session on “Far Eye Journey” on 11th August 2021. Students and faculty members representing all the Schools of KIIT-DU participated in the session.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Sucheta Priyabadini, Director, Student Counselling stated that career counseling sessions have been initiated by the Counseling Cell in recent times, duly involving the alumni based abroad, to share their success stories with their juniors. She welcomed and introduced the Guest Speaker, Shri Gaurav Srivastav, who is a distinguished KIIT-DU alumnus from 2009 graduating batch of School of Computer Engineering. Speaking about the uniqueness of FarEye, she said that it is led by three alumni of KIIT, demonstrating an example of working in partnership and coordination. Recalling their achievements in 2008, she mentioned how the three students of KIIT, Gautam Kumar, Kushal Nahata and Gaurav Srivastav won several accolades from IITs, NITs, etc. One of their biggest achievements was winning the National Robotics Championship. A special press meet was arranged in their honour by Dr. Achutya Samanta, Founder, KIIT & KISS who is known for going out of his way to support and promote students.
Prof. J. R. Mohanty, Registrar welcomed Gaurav and complimented him for the amazing achievements of FarEye. He reiterated the lines of the Founder, “Strengthening alumni to strengthen KIIT”. We always take pride in the growth of our alumni as they are the real ambassadors of our University, he said.
Gaurav Srivastav, Gautam Kumar and Kushal Nahata established FarEye company in 2013. Gaurav is the CTO and Co-Founder of FarEye based in Chicago, USA. He is spearheading the technology strategy at FarEye, an Indian SaaS startup that helps firms globally optimize their supply chain and logistics operations. It has raised USD 100 million.
Gaurav started his talk with an interesting slide, “Journey from Gaurav to Guraav.” He spoke about the importance of working with passion and there being no substitute for teamwork. Expressing gratitude at the alma mater, he said how they have built capacities over the period in taking India to the world, where reward always follows hard work.
He also took questions from the students and inspired them with his story.
Dr S. K. Mahapatra, Director KSOM, while appreciating Gaurav, advised the students to similarly look for product ideas and common man’s challenges. Prof. Samaresh Mishra, thanked Gaurav for sparing his valuable time and interacting with the students which would have inspired them as FarEye has gained tremendous credibility in these years. Prof Ashok Sar, Prof. Kumar Mohanty, Prof. Debaraj Mitra, Dr. Binita Behera and other faculty members joined the session and appreciated the incredible journey of FarEye.
