KIIT School of Mechanical Engineering Organizes International Conference on Advances in Mechanical Processing and Design

An International Conference on Advances in Mechanical Processing and Design (ICAMPD-2019) organized by School of Mechanical Engineering, KIIT-DU  was  inaugurated in presence of all the delegates and dignitaries  at Campus-7 Auditorium on 18th October, 2019. This International Conference was graced by several Keynote Speakers and Participants from different parts of the Globe.

Dr. Amol A. Gokhale, Professor, Indian Institute of Technology Bombay presented a Keynote Speech on the topic “Opportunities for Research and Commercialisation of High Energy Rare Earth Permanent Magnets.”His talk enlightened the audience about the different links in the rare earth ore-to-product value chain which suggested ways to close the critical technology gaps, as well as policy interventions to make the Indian products internationally competitive.  Finally, he discussed the role of the Indian scientists and engineers in shaping future science and technology of rare earth.

“Application of Gleeble ThermoMechanical Simulator in Research and Study of thermo-mechanical behavior and properties of Materials”– topic was presented by another Keynote Speaker Dr. Wayne Chen. In fact, over nearly 30 years of research and testing, he has authored and co-authored about 60 papers, patents and books, as well as testing techniques mainly on the Gleeble systems.  He has been enjoying using the Gleeble systems and  applied Gleeble data to industrial applications worldwide.

Dr. Manas Paliwal, Senior Lead Scientist, Sandvik, Pune presented his Keynote Speech in emphasizing Thermodynamics and Kinetic Knowledge which is indispensable to understand the micro structural development of alloys,  its methodology and implementation of concurrent treatment of homogenization, dissolution and precipitation.

Mr. Hemant Gourkar, Antonpar delivered a Technical Talk on “Nano/Micro Mechanical Characterization Techniques with Novel Platform Concept” & “New Tosca Series of Atomic Force Microscope and Applications” on Day-2 of the ICAMPD-2019.

Keynote Speakers Dr. Amiya Ranjan Mohanty, Shyamal Ghosh and Sunanda Ghosh Chair & Professor Department of Mechanical Engineering Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur presented on the topic “Advances in Design”.

Dr. Sastry Y. Kandukuri, Head of DNV GL Global Additive Manufacturing Innovation Centre of Excellence (AM CoE) in Singapore; Dr. Sudharshan Phani, a Scientist at the Center for Engineered Coatings (CEC), ARCI and Dr. K. P. Sinhamahapatra,Professor of Aerospace Engineering, Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur, India also graced the occasion as Keynote Speakers and placed their talk on the theme.

Prof. Sasmita Samanta, Pro-VC, KIIT-DU  graced the occasion, enlightened the audience with her valuable speech and emphasized on the contribution of the School of Mechanical  Engineering towards Researches, Innovations & Teaching -Learning Processes.

At the outset, Dr. A.K. Sahoo, Director, KIIT School of Mechanical Engineering placed the welcome address and briefly narrated the objectives of the Conference in a nutshell. Dr. Nilotpala Bej, Assistant Professor, SME  elucidated the impact and utilities of this conference lucidly. The proceedings of ICAMPD-2019 was unveiled by the Dignitaries. Eventually, Dr. P.C Mishra, Associate Dean, SME and Co- Chairman of the Conference proposed Vote of Thanks.
