KIIT School of Electronics Engineering NSS Wing Organizes Special Camp
The NSS Special Camp 2019 was organized by KIIT School of Electronics Engineering NSS Unit in three villages namely Padmakeshripur, Injana and Tangibanta. The Special Camp started from 12th of December which lasted till 18th of December, 2019. The NSS volunteers conducted an awareness camp on the issues of drug addiction and alcohol consumption. Besides, a health education and sanitation awareness drive were organized on 12th and 13th December respectively.
On 14th December Cleanliness Drive and Yoga sessions were undertaken at the schools of the respective villages to promote Swachh Bharat and Fit India movement. On the evening of 14th December, cultural activities like singing and dancing were organized. On 15th December, the volunteers conducted a plantation and cleanliness drive program to encourage people to plant more trees and keep their surroundings clean and also a cultural night was organized by the volunteers.
On 16th December, various sports activities were organized between the villagers and the NSS Volunteers which included a cricket match and a football match. On 17th December, the NSS volunteers went door to door in the villages and made them aware about the bad effects of plastic and ways to minimize its uses.
On the final day i.e. 18th of December, the closing ceremony was organized which marked the end of a very eventful week. Prof. Bidwabandita Kar, Dean, School of Yoga; Prof. Kajal Parashar, Coordinator, KIIT NSS Bureau; Prof. P. K. Rout, NSS PO, School of Biotech; Prof. Sruti S. Singh, NSS PO, School of Electronics Engineering along with the Headmasters of different schools and sarpanch were present on the occasion.
By special camps and regular visits to the villages, the NSS wing of KIIT Deemed to be University is extending a helping hand in taking the underprivileged out of their misery. “Till now, we have received positive feedback from the three villages about our campaigns and other activities. The villagers are actively taking part in the activities conducted by the NSS wing of School of Electronics“, said the volunteers.. As said by Helen Keller “Alone we can do so little, together we can do so much”, hence each and everyone should contribute to the society by helping underprivileged people to make their lives better .
Prof. Sruti S. Singh, NSS Program Officer of School of Electronics Engineering along with Abhishek, Amrit, Suvra , Dinesh, Aniket, NSS volunteers of School of Electronics Engineering coordinated the whole event successfully. In this context, the volunteers have expressed their heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Achyuta Samanta, Founder, KIIT & KISS; Prof. Sasmita Samanta, Pro-VC, KIIT DU and KIIT Transport Department, who extended all possible support in making the programme a grand success.
