KIIT School of Civil Engineering Organizes Online Training Program on ‘EPANET Software’

School of Civil Engineering, KIIT-DU organized an online training program on ‘EPANET Software’ on 29th August 2021. EPANET is a software application used throughout the world to model water distribution systems and is developed by United States Environmental Protection Agency (USEPA).

Prof. Sananda Sarkar, Assistant Professor, SCE introduced the speaker cum trainer for the online training program, Mr. Ashok Kumar Tarai, who has immense experience in the field of water distribution systems. Mr. Tarai informed about various tools of the software. Being a public domain software, the students could practice the software without any hindrance. He discussed how to design the network of pipes for water distribution for a city. He also discussed the real field implications of the software and broadened about the companies that seek graduates with such skills. The training program continued for almost 2.5 hours.

Mr. Tarai has more than 18 years of expertise in the field of water supply and wastewater sector. He is currently working as Consultant – Water and Environment, M/s Ecometrix Consultant Pvt. Ltd. and associated with numerous Govt. backed projects like hydraulic design of water supply system using water GEMS Model for Municipal Corporation Odisha, as well as technical report preparation for Project Management of Jal Jeevan Mission project under Assam State.

Prof. S. Moulick, Dean, SCE addressed the students and welcomed them to the session. He talked about the importance of these software for recruitments and career growth. He advised everyone to attend the session and practice the software for enhancing knowledge. The program, attended by more than 100 participants, ended with a vote of thanks by Prof. Kundan Samal, Assistant Professor, SCE.
