KiiT International School Student Becomes First from Odisha to Play Singles Final in Under-14 Tennis Nationals
At the age of 12, KiiT International School (KiiT-IS) student, Sohini Mohanty became the first tennis player from Odisha to play singles final in Under-14 Tennis Nationals conducted at Mumbai. She also made it to the doubles finals, which was a nail-biting match to witness. An underdog in the National Event with Rank 51 in India, Sohini Mohanty has beaten India No. 02 and No. 06 on her way to reach the finals in Nationals. She staged a close fight against her competitors and stood as the runner up in both the events.
Remarkably, she has won 59 All India titles at the age of just 12 which is the highest number of titles achieved by any tennis player from Odisha. Sohini has consistently been performing and growing under the guidance of her coach. Her hard work and determination have also led her to enter the Indian Davis Cup U-12 Junior Team. Sohini has made the KiiT-IS fraternity proud with her array of achievements that continues to get longer with each passing day.
