KIIT Faculty Members Felicitated for Academic & Research Achievements

Several faculty members from different Schools of KIIT Deemed to be University were felicitated by Prof. Achyuta Samanta, Founder, KIIT & KISS for their outstanding academic and research achievements at a special function to celebrate KIIT’s impressive position in the Times Higher Education World University Rankings 2023 on 15th October 2022. In the Times rankings table released earlier this month, KIIT was placed in the cohort of 601-800, marking a significant jump of about 200 positions from the previous year.

“The present day higher education ecosystem presents both opportunities and challenges and KIIT owes its consistent ascent in the prestigious national and international rankings to the hard work of its academic community”, said Prof. Achyuta Samanta. He commended the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Sasmita Samanta for her sustained focus on quality teaching at KIIT and leading from the front to ensure world-class research output, which is reflected in the University’s national and global rankings.       

The Founder presented certificates of appreciation to Dr. Subrat Kumar Acharya, Pro-Chancellor, KIIT-DU and nine other eminent academicians of KIIT who have been included in the list of ‘Top 2% Scientists of the World’, published annually by the Stanford University, USA.

Dr. Yogesh Chawla and Dr. A. C. Anand from School of Medical Sciences; Dr. S. C. Satapathy, Dr. Aleena Swetapadma, and Dr. S. S. Rautaray from School of Computer Engineering; Dr. Chandana Mohanty from School of Applied Sciences; Dr. Dindyal Mandal from School of Biotechnology; Dr. S. P. Gautam from School of Electronics Engineering; and Dr. R. K. Barik from School of Computer Applications have also been featured in the list.

Dr. Ipseeta Satpathy from School of Management; Dr. P. K. Pattanaik from School of Computer Engineering; and Dr. C. K. Panigrahi from School of Electrical Engineering were felicitated for producing the maximum number of Ph.D. scholars awarded at the 18th Convocation of KIIT-DU in 2022. Recognizing the contribution of faculty supervisors, Prof. Achyuta Samanta said that a record number of 163 Ph.D. degrees were awarded at the 18th annual convocation of the University.

He also presented appreciation certificates to the School of Biotechnology, School of Management, and School of Computer Engineering for having the maximum number of Ph.D. Scholars awarded in the 18th Convocation.

Five faculty members – Dr. Mrutyunjay Suar (School of Biotechnology); Dr. S. C. Satapathy (School of Computer Engineering); Dr. Nitin Sharma (School of Mechanical Engineering); Dr. Bhargav Appasani (School of Electronics Engineering); and Dr. Ashok Kumar Sahoo (School of Mechanical Engineering) – were felicitated for having good number of Indexed Journal Publications and Citation, while Dr. Sonali Kar (School of Medical Sciences); Dr. Gopal Chandra  Kundu (School of Biotechnology); and Dr. Tapan Kumar Adya (School of Biotechnology) were felicitated for getting the highest amount of Govt.-Funded R&D projects in 2022 till date.

Prof. Sasmita Samanta, Vice Chancellor, KIIT-DU; Prof. Saranjit Singh, Pro-Vice Chancellor; Prof. CBK Mohanty, Pro-Vice Chancellor; and Prof. J. R. Mohanty, Registrar also spoke on the occasion. The ceremony was attended by the entire faculty team of KIIT-DU and key administrative staff.
