KIIT-DU Observes Anti-Ragging Day & Anti-Ragging Week 2024

KIIT Deemed to be University observed Anti-Ragging Day (12th August 2024) and Anti-Ragging Week (12-18 August 2024) with great enthusiasm and a firm commitment to maintaining a ragging-free campus through induction programs and events jointly organized by the KIIT Student Activity Centre (KSAC) and Student Affairs Cell of the University.

The awareness against ragging was initiated through induction programs by Prof. Samaresh Mishra, Director, Student Affairs, KIIT. At KSAC, the event commenced with an informative session by Dr. Shyam Sundar Behura, Additional Registrar, KIIT-DU, who highlighted the importance of eradicating ragging from educational institutions. He emphasized the serious legal and disciplinary consequences of ragging, in line with the University Grants Commission (UGC) regulations, and stressed the need for a compassionate and respectful campus culture.

Students from various departments participated in the event, showcasing their understanding and support for the cause through speeches. The activity underscored the detrimental effects of ragging on the physical and mental well-being of students. It also provided insights into how to identify and report incidents of ragging, ensuring that every student is aware of the support mechanisms in place.

In addition to the awareness program, an oath-taking ceremony was held, where students pledged to stand against ragging and to promote a culture of empathy and inclusiveness within the university.

The event concluded with a commitment from both students and staff to continue working together to ensure that the university remains a safe and welcoming place for everyone. The event served as a reminder that the fight against ragging requires collective effort and vigilance from all members of the university community.
