KIIT Deemed to be University organizes 7th Edition of KIIT International MUN
The 7th Edition of KIIT International MUN is being held at OAT-1, Campus 3 of KIIT Deemed to be University. It is organized by KIIT in association with UNFPA and British Council-India.
The Inaugural Session was graced by His Excellency Prof. Claudio Ansorena Montero, Ambassador of Costa Rica to India; H.E. Mr. Fleming Raul Duarte Ramos, Ambassador of Paraguay to India; H.E. Mr. Hector Cueva Jacome, Ambassador of Ecuador to India and Ms. Barbara Wickham, Director of British Council in India on 20th September, 2019.
At the outset, placing the Opening Speech, Dr. Achyuta Samanta, Founder of KIIT and KISS welcomed and introduced the distinguished Guests to the audience. Mr. Rohan Singh, Secretary General, KIIT International MUN read out the Annual Report.
Addressing the intellectual congregation, Ms. Barbara Wickham, Director of British Council in India highlighted the scenario of Human Rights in 21st century. In the context of 150th Birth Anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, she said that India through Mahatma has significant influence in the history of India and world. She also laid focus on exploitation of Technology and Global Awareness.
“British Council gives emphasis on equality, diversity and inclusion apart from Human Rights across India and world. India and UK are aligned on the issues of students, research and society. We must remain committed towards spreading humanity and social change”, she added.
Prof. Claudio Ansorena Montero, Ambassador of Costa Rica to India said that we can increase the number of students of Costa Rica in KISS. Emphasizing on the values of democracy, he affirmed, “we have to work hand in hand to promote democratic values all over the world.”
Mr. Hector Cueva Jacome, drawn comparison between India and Latin America. He said the agricultural productivity in India is more than 2 to 3 times that of Latin America. Moreover, in IT, Education, Health etc. sectors, India is miles ahead. Latin America needs to adopt the model of KISS, its knowledge and technology in our country. KISS is a fantastic model of education. We can work together in common issues, i.e. health, education and environment etc., he added.
Mr. Fleming Raul Duarte Ramos said, “I have never seen such a comprehensive way of educating and empowering people. I’m sure Dr. Samanta is going to be a top leader in the field of education in India. We, as ambassador have the main task to develop bridges to maintain relationship. I would like to enforce this model of KISS in Paraguay and also in Latin America as a whole.”
Among the dignitaries, Prof. Hrushikesha Mohanty, VC and Prof. Sasmita Samanta, Pro-VC, KIIT DU were present and spoke on the occasion. In the audience, senior functionaries, faculties and students of KIIT DU along with many student-delegates from different universities across the world graced the inaugural function. On this occasion, scintillating Cultural Performances were displayed to the audience’s delight.
