KIIT CONNECT Program Orientation Program for 2021-Admitted Batch Students of 14 Schools

The Orientation Program for 2021-admitted batch students of 14 Schools was conducted on 5th October 2021 as a part of 12-day KIIT CONNECT program. The program was graced by Prof. Achyuta Samanta, Founder, KIIT & KISS; Prof. Hrushikesha Mohanty, Vice Chancellor, KIIT-DU; Prof. Sasmita Samanta, Pro Vice Chancellor; and Prof. Jnyana Ranjan Mohanty, Registrar.

Addressing the students, Prof. Achyuta Samanta elaborated on the academics, extracurricular, campus placement facilities available at KIIT for building the career of each and every student and advised them to be good human beings. Prof. Hrushikesha Mohanty urged students to utilize the facilities and opportunities at KIIT to create knowledge by engaging themselves in research activities, innovative project works along with study.

Prof. Sasmita Samanta shared the internationalization activities of the University and explained how KIIT practiced most of the proposals of the newly-drafted NEP (National Education Policy) of the Govt. of India. Each School of KIIT is comparable to any National Institutes of repute with respect to academics, co-curricular activities, research, projects, consultancy, rank and recognition, she stated, while advising students to utilize all facilities for their career development. Prof. Jnyana Ranjan Mohanty highlighted the world-class facilities available at KIIT for nurturing students for a successful academic and professional life.  

The Orientation Program was held on the last day of the 12-day KIIT CONNECT program, a mega event to enlighten the 2021-admitted students about KIIT. KIIT CONNECT provided students an overview of the 14 schools of KIIT, focusing on their UG/PG academics, courses of studies of 1st year, different academic and support systems, examinations, student support, community engagement (NSS, NCC & Youth Red Cross), student code of conduct, sports facilities, counseling & mentoring, library facilities, hostel facilities, research (with emphasize on interdisciplinary research and Social Science Research), innovations, incubations, consultancy facilities, training & placement support, career advisory & augmentation services, quality requirements, student opportunities, participative governance system, internationalization, social outreach and its impact.

It featured expert talks by Mr. Rahul Bose, renowned Indian film actor, director, screenwriter, social activist and rugby player and Mr. Ameen Haque, renowned story coach, innovation consultant and diversity champion. Students also benefited from seven Alumni Talks by Virinder Singh, Sonali Nanda, Bhargav Sarma, Bitan Ghosh, Subhadarshini Parida, Amitav Patnaik, Manisha Mishra and four Peer Talks by Depankan Bandopadhyay, Swati Singh, Mayank Kumar and Sreesha Gupta. It also included a Parents-Mentor Interaction.

The 12-day program witnessed 57 hours of presentations by 14 Schools and 20 Units on 107 Program of Studies. It was participated in by approximately 8000 students in Virtual Mode every day. The 14 participating Schools were: Civil, Computer, Electrical, Electronics, Mechanical, Biotechnology, Architecture, Computer Applications, Management, Law, Commerce and Economics, Language, Public Health, Film and Mass Communications.

Similarly, various Units participating in the KIIT CONNECT program were: Examination, Academics, KSAC, NSS/NCC/YRC,  Student Affairs, Sports, Student Counseling, Central Library, Hostel, KIIT TBI, KIIT R&D Cell (Technology), R&D Cell (Social Sciences), T&P, CAAS, Q&A Cell, Consultancy Cell, International Cell, KIIT Digital.
