KIIT Alumni LIVE Series by Alumna Proma Chowdhury
The first episode of KIIT Alumni LIVE series of 2021 was held on 13th March 2021 with Alumna Ms. Proma Chowdhury. The session went LIVE on KIIT Facebook page where Proma, an awesome singer, spoke about her days in KIIT and how she has kept her passion for singing alive by maintaining a balance between her career and her interest. She performed on six songs and even took up requests from the audience. She thanked Prof. Achyuta Samanta, Founder, KIIT & KISS for providing an ideal ambience for learning at KIIT as well as ample opportunities to pursue one’s interests and passions. The event was hosted by Dr. Shyam Sundar Behura, Dy. Director Student Services, KIIT.
Proma completed her B.Tech in Electronics and Electrical Engineering from KIIT Deemed to be University in the year 2014. She joined Ericsson as Network Engineer and was associated with the company till 2018. She completed her MBA at IIM Nagpur in Marketing and Finance in 2020. She is also a Microsoft Certified Cloud consultant since January and presently a Management Trainee at Hexaware.
Introduced to music initially by her mother, she was guided on her interest by Ms. Abantika Pattanayak of KIIT Student Activity Centre (KSAC). Currently she is under the tutelage of the veteran singer Anansuya Mukhopadhyay. She has been an All India Junior Radio Artist (juvenile category). She was the Assistant coordinator of Korus Society of KSAC from 2013-2014. She has performed at IYF 2013 and represented KIIT at XIMB annual cultural fest 2013 and IIT Bhubaneswar Annual cultural fest 2012 and 2013. She has also performed at Kairavi – 2014, the first cultural Fest of KIIT. She was selected for the Main Audition round of Indian Idol 2016 and also for Mumbai Audition round of Voice of India 2016. She has performed at Spic Macay, IIM Nagpur Chapter, in front of Ustad Shahid Pervz and Pt. Mithilesh Jha in 2019.
She has been invited to perform LIVE at 8 Facebook pages so far during the pandemic.
