International Volunteers Day-2018 was observed at KISS Higher Education Campus
International Volunteers Day was celebrated on 5th December, 2018 in the premises of KISS Deemed to be University (KISS Campus-3). The meeting was presided by the Prof. Harekrishna Satapathy, Vice-Chancellor, KISS DU, while Shri R. N. Dash, Secretary, KISS & KIIT was the Chief Guest of the meeting.
The Chief Guest Sri R.N. Dash, Secretary, KIIT & KISS congratulated all on this occasion and also delivered his brief talk on the importance of the Volunteers Day.
Delivering the address on the significance of International Volunteers Day, Prof. Satapathy, VC, KISS DU focused on the distinguished personality of Dr. Achyuta Samanta, Founder, KIIT& KISS who has been the best example of true volunteerism. “The philosophy of KISS is based upon the voluntary services rendered with devotion and dedication,” added the VC.
At the outset, placing the introductory speech, Shri Julius Lakra, Registrar, KISS DU focused on the importance of the occasion highlighting the role of students as volunteer. Mrs. Bedamati Pattanaik, Faculty, Department of English and YRC Counsellor presented a brief report on the objective and the importance of the day.
On this occasion, two student volunteers named Mukteswar Wadka, PG Part-1 and Yogita Sabar UG 3rd Year Science delivered their speech expressing their experiences as volunteers and encouraged the other students.
As many as 100 student volunteers selected by a Jury were felicitated with certificates for their volunteering works in different activities like YRC, NSS, Peer Educator, Food Serving, Cleanliness, Prayer Assembly, Blood Donation and the winners in the Debate Competition.
The meeting ended with the Vote of Thanks and concluding speech by the Principal, Mr. Manindra Nath Mohanty.
