International Day of the World’s Indigenous Peoples observed at KISS

9th August is celebrated globally as the International Day of the World’s Indigenous Peoples. This year’s observance of International Day of the World’s Indigenous Peoples is marked as the International Year of Indigenous Languages as Indigenous Peoples’ Languages are one of the concerns among others that stands threatened.

The aim is to highlight the critical need to revitalize, preserve and promote indigenous languages and share good practices through expert and interactive panels as well as presentation of innovative initiative on indigenous languages.

International Day of the World’s Indigenous Peoples was observed at KISS on 9th August, 2019. On this occasion, Prof. (Dr.) Harekrishna  Satapathy, VC, KISS DU; Shri Nihar Ranjan Patnaik, Pro-VC, KISS DU; Shri R.N. Dash, Secretary, KIIT&KISS;  Dr. Prasanta Kumar Routray, CEO, KISS; Shri Suryakanta Mohanty, COO, KISS and Dr. P.K. Das, Director, Livelihood, KISS were present and spoke on the Indigenous people’s rights and culture.

In fact, KISS has created a conducive environment for each and every student to enjoy Right to their language, culture and traditions; Right to protect themselves against the loss of identity and Right to be allowed to thrive as dynamic living creatures.
