Interactive Session between KIIT-CRF & TSAMRC for Research Collaboration

The Central Research Facility (CRF), KIIT-DU held a day-long interaction session with representatives from Tata Steel Advanced Material Research Centre (TSAMRC) on 30th June 2022. The session was graced by Prof. Sasmita Samanta, VC, KIIT-DU; Prof. S. Nanda, Head, CIR; and Prof. Ashok Kumar Sahoo, Director-R&D (Technology). Its objective was to create an initial understanding about possible future research collaboration between TSAMRC and KIIT-DU for independent research on various aspects of common interest.

The team from TSAMRC included Subrat K Baral, Chief, Alliance and Ventures, Technology and New Materials Business; Mriganshu Guha, Head, TSAMRC; and Twisampati Bhandari, TSAMRC & Technology Intelligence Tata Steel, Technology and New Materials Business. They shared their current and future technology areas of focus for Tata Steel including Nanomaterials, Biocomposites, Medical Materials, Diagnostic Devices, Alternate Construction Material, Materials Recycling and Recovery, Hydrogen and Water Remediation.

Dr. Rojalin Sahu, Associate Professor & Associate Dean, CRF, KIIT-DU shared the research facilities, research outputs and technologies developed by the faculty and students of KIIT-DU. The officials from TSAMRC praised the research growth of KIIT-DU in the short span of time under the guidance of its Founder, Prof. Achyuta Samanta. They interacted with senior functionaries of KIIT-DU, including Prof. J. R. Mohanty, Registrar.

As many as 40 participants from across KIIT-DU joined the interactive session to share their field of interest and current research work with the Tata Team. They included researchers, teaching faculty and scientists from School of Applied Sciences, School of Civil Engineering, School of Mechanical Engineering, School of Electrical Engineering, School of Electronics Engineering, School of Medicine (KIMS), School of Dental Sciences (KIDS) and School of Biotechnology. The initiative, first mooted by Mr. Subrat K Baral, is expected to be a game changer in the field of advanced research in the eastern zone of India.  

The visiting team also went around different research facilities at Central Research Facility (CRF), school-level research facilities and interacted with the research deans. Prof. Benugopal Mohapatra, Director Consultancy, KIIT-DU and Prof. Prasanta Rath, Dean-SAS graced the interactive session. The programme was coordinated by Dr. Rojalin Sahu. The vote of thanks on behalf of KIIT-DU was delivered by Dr. Shaktimaya Mohapatra, Facility Director, PBMH, KIMS.
