Inauguration of Indian Institute of Metals (IIM) Affiliate Student Chapter at KIIT-DU
Kalinga Institute of Industrial Technology (KIIT), Deemed to be University, marked a significant milestone with the successful inauguration of the Indian Institute of Metals (IIM) Affiliate Student Chapter on April 11, 2026. The inauguration of the IIM Affiliate Student Chapter of KIIT-DU, IISER Berhampur, and IIT Bhubaneswar was held at the IISER Berhampur campus by Prof. B.S. Murty, President of IIM and Director, IIT Hyderabad.
Speaking on the occasion, Prof. Murty emphasized the growing importance of Metallurgy and Materials Science. He added that IIM provides a valuable platform for scientists, faculty members, and students to explore and advance their research in areas such as mineral beneficiation, extraction, fabrication, heat treatment, finishing processes, and both theoretical and practical aspects of ferrous, non-ferrous, and ceramic materials. The institute actively organizes national and international conferences, technical programs, research activities, publications, and qualifying examinations.
KIIT-DU always adds value and promotes science, research, innovation, and technology for the upliftment of society. The establishment of the IIM Affiliate Student Chapter will not only benefit the students, but will also be fruitful for the growth of the university, the state, and the nation.

Dr. S.K.S. Parashar, Professor, School of Applied Sciences, and his group from KIIT-DU; Prof. Animesh Mandal, School of Minerals, Metallurgical and Materials Engineering, and his group from IIT Bhubaneswar; and Prof. Ashok Kumar Ganguli, Director, and his group from IISER Berhampur witnessed the opening ceremony of the IIM Affiliate Student Chapter.
