Grant of Garbage Mining Project to KIIT DU

An Interdisciplinary project has been sanctioned by Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation on Garbage Mining. In the present scenario, environmental concern and Impact Assessment studies are of utmost necessity. Bhubaneswar being the Smart City, BMC has taken a drastic step for Garbage Mining, Estimation, Quantification, Characterization and Management.

The project is being executed under the Principal Investigation of Prof. (Dr.) Biswabandita Kar, (School of Applied Sciences, KIIT); Dr. Bansidhar Mulia, HoD Plastic Surgery, KIMS; and Mr. Umesh Chandra Panda, consultant KISS. The overall execution to be conducted under the able guidance of Sri R. N. Dash, Secretary, KIIT & KISS along with Prof. (Dr.) Sasmitarani Samanta, Pro Vice-Chancellor, KIIT Deemed to be University.

The project will be executed for a long period of time including multi-variantdimensionsto make the city garbage free, clean and green. The project is a high valued project which will ultimately become an example for other cities to become garbage free. Dr. Pratap Kumar Dehery and Dr. Tapan Kumar Bastia, School of Applied Sciences will be investigating the chemical, Physical and Microbial parameters in due course of time.

The team members have conveyed their hearty thankfulness to Founder, Dr. Achyuta Samanta for providing the opportunity for success of the project.
