The five-day-long Faculty Development Programme (FDP)-2023 concluded today at KIIT Deemed-to-be-University (KIIT-DU) with a special valedictory session by Vice-Chancellor of Biju Patnaik University of Technology, Prof. Amiya Kumar Rath on “Designing Thoughts, Nurturing Innovation.’’ The inaugural session of the FDP was addressed by KIIT-KISS Founder Prof. Achyuta Samanta on June 26.

More than 1,300 Faculty members from 19 different schools attended the FDP-2023 Programme and more than 190 sessions were conducted by them (10 each by every school) and three special sessions by eminent academics from across Odisha.

While adopting an innovative approach to share his ideas with the participants with interesting visuals like movie scenes from “Three Idiots’’ Prof Rath said “you should innovate in such a way that students would be engrossed in the learning process just like they watch a beautifully crafted movie. In a class 10 percent knowledge should be shared by teachers and 90 percent should be acquired by the students through participative learning process.’’

Speaking on research and publications he said “research should not be meant only for publishing papers for career growth or the NIRF ranking of a university. On the other hand, research should contribute towards a larger social goal and welfare of mankind. The researchers should always keep this in mind.’’

Stressing on the use of teaching methods like “role play’’, “brain storming’’ etc, he advised the Faculty members to think out-of-the-box ideas to make the teaching-learning process unique and empowering students with useable knowledge to make their careers prosperous and growth-oriented.

Pro Vice-Chancellor School of Medicine Prof. CBK Mohanty advised the Faculty members to identify the potentials of individual students, make them future-ready and help the students to learn with technology and innovative approach.

At the valedictory session Vice-Chancellor KIIT-DU Prof. Sasmitarani Samanta and Registrar Prof. Jnyana Ranjan Mohanty gave introductory remarks. Director Quality Assurance Cell KIIT-DU Prof. Chinmoy Kumar Panigrahi  proposed vote of thanks.
