Addressing the intellectual congregation, His Excellency Vice President of India Hon’ble Sri M. Venkaiah Naidu Said, “I’m delighted to be here in a historically, naturally, culturally beautiful land of Odisha. I’m not a poet but poetry is very close to my heart. I appreciate, understand and enjoy poetry since my younger days. I compliment and congratulate Dr. Samanta and his institute for showing sincerity for hosting WCP in the premises of KIIT and KISS”.

This Institute’s unwavering commitment to excellence has been possible  due to its extraordinary contribution and dedicated effort to educate the children from tribal communities which is truly noteworthy and praiseworthy. “I  congratulate the Institute  for being awarded  the status of  eminence  for its dedication to the cause of quality education and technology. I also congratulate its dynamic founder and his team towards reforming and transforming lives of millions of tribal people which are truly commendable”, he stated.

It is a matter of great pride for all of us that the Congress is happening in India, particularly in the beautiful land of Odisha  this year, i.e. the year of 150th Birth Anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi. People world over celebrate this year as Gandhi’s Year, because Mahatma Gandhi was relevant yesterday, he is relevant today, he will be relevant tomorrow and he will be relevant forever. Gandhi was embodiment of non violence and peace, simplicity, simple living and high thinking that is needed because peace is pre-requisite of progress. The entire world is one family.  The peaceful coexistence is barely needed all across the world. Till date, India never attacked any nation, because we never believe in aggression, rather we believe in progression and well being of one and all, added the Vice President.

Everybody seek happiness to live peacefully and harmoniously in this planet and Poetry has the elements to fetch happiness. Because it has immense appeal to the people and has great values in influencing the lives of the people. I must salute the theme of this Congress, i.e.  “Compassion Through Poetry”. Artists and poets are conscience keepers of the society. “Poetry is the powerful vehicle in the earth for the entire generational transformationPoetry is one of the finest expressions of human emotion. India has a long illustrious poetic tradition. In every states of India there are great poets of immense caliber. India is virtually the Great Grandmother of tradition”, added Shri Naidu.

His Excellency Hon’ble Governor of Odisha Sri Ganeshi Lal said that Odisha is a divine land. The philosophers of spirituality from all over the world come strictly speaking that this land has the power to liberate. It is such a land where everyone is the representative of Lord Jagannath. The Lord says, I’m here to liberate you. The beauty of this land is its caste-less, creed-less and colorless character. Besides, sweetness, love and compassion make the land enriched.

The Governor remarked, “the people of this land are virtually harbingers of Sunrise Technology, both traditional and modern. They are also the harbingers of Archaeological Science, Environmental Science and Ethical Science. Being an ascetic, ethical, spiritual and cultural, this is a land which belongs to everybody. Because Lord Jagannath lives here. As far as the Poetry is concerned, Lord Jagannath is also a Poet. Actually it is the  Poet, who gives life to the dead person in the society.”

Hon’ble Union Minister of State for MSME, Animal Husbandry, Dairying &Fishery, Shri Pratap Chandra Sarangi said, ” I’m a  non poet and from my point of view, poetry is nothing but compassion. It is an emotional aspect of Human personality and an outcome of human feelings. The history of the earliest poetry of the world belongs to  Maharshi Valmiki when he wrote a poetry seeing the agony of the world. William Wordsworth says that poetry is an emotional overflow of feelings and emotions collected in tranquility. Poetry comes from the compassion of the heart. Poetry touches the heart of man. Poet is a man of heart. He goes beyond the universe and searches root beyond others.
