Capacity Building Program of National Mission on Libraries for Public Library Personnel by Raja Ram Mohan Roy Library Foundation (RRRLF), Kolkata, under the Ministry of Culture, Government of India in collaboration with Kalinga Institute of Industrial Technology (KIIT), Deemed to be University was inaugurated on 18th December, 2017 at Conference Hall-4, KIIT Campus-6.

Prof. Harekrishna Satapathy, Vice Chancellor of KISS Deemed to be University presided over the meeting. Bestowing lavish praise on KISS & KIIT, the two magnificent creations of The Founder Prof. Achyuta Samanta, he rightly called this exceptional learning ambiance as the modern Santiniketan. Besides, he highlighted the importance of Libraries and Librarians in society.

Prof. Chakradhar Tripathy, Professor & Head, P.G Department of Hindi, Viswa Bharati University threw light on Philosophy of Rabindranath Tagore towards the essence of librarianship by means of some pertinent examples. Prof. A. K. Sen, Chairman, UG Programs and Central Library Committee enthralled the participants by his profound words of wisdom.

Prof. Uma Kanjilal, Professor & Head, Faculty of Library and Information Science, IGNOU invited the attention of the participants towards the need of proactive role of public librarians in reengineering library services as per the need of the common citizens. Sri S.K. Chatterjee, Librarian, HKM State Library threw light on the importance of Public Library Services in modern days.

While Dr. Bijaylaxmi Rautaray, Chief Librarian, Kalinga Institute of Industrial Technology (KIIT), Deemed to be University presented Welcome Address, Mr. Soumen Sarkar, Deputy Director, RRRLF proposed Vote of Thanks. This Programme will be concluded on 22nd December, 2017.
