Bhubaneswar Smart City Limited (BSCL) in collaboration with NSS Bureau under KIIT Deemed to be University conducted a Youth Connect Programme to showcase the importance of Cyber Awareness and Cyber Security on 25th of September, 2019 at Campus 7, KIIT DU.
BSCL(Bhubaneswar Smart City Limited) initiative aims to include activities involved in reformation of Bhubaneswar as a smart city and believes in connecting with the youth. The importance in securing the technical developments taking place in Bhubaneswar and creating a safe cyberspace is indeed important for Bhubaneswar’s development as a smart city.
A secure cyberspace is extremely essential in today’s world seeing the amount of activity being performed on the electronic platform. From transactions to communication everything is done online. This requires and demands security and no vulnerabilities. Because each and every user or organization has the right to security in all aspects and cyber security is indeed one of them.
Celebrating NSS Week and commemorating the Golden Jubilee of NSS, the event was organized to promote cyber awareness and the need to secure the cyberspace utilized by the youth. It was a great platform for the volunteers of both the wings to get some crucial information on cyber security through this event.
The event began with an enthusiastic guest lecture by Dr. Rabindra Narayan Behera, Sr. Technical Director (Scientist-F), National Informatics Centre, Odisha State Centre, Bhubaneswar since October, 1988 and also a Program Coordinator of various technical projects at state as well as national level. His lecture involved important aspects of development in cyber security and how necessary securing information and spreading awareness it is in today’s world.
The event was concluded with an overwhelming presentation by Mrs. Bhaswati Sahoo, Assistant Professor, School of Computer Engineering on the topic: “Challenges of Intelligent and sustainable smart cities: Bhubaneswar city as a case study.” The presentation was nicely explained in accordance with the cyber needs and the importance of awareness required for Bhubaneswar to develop as a smart city.
The NSS KIIT team thanked to their beloved Founder Dr. Achutya Samanta for his proficiency in connecting with the youth and creating awareness regarding various important aspects essential today.
