There’s no better time than the holiday season to give back to your community and spread some holiday cheer. Happiness multiplies when it is shared. Art of Giving community has always worked towards spreading happiness, joy and smiles inspired by selfless service of Dr. Achyuta Samanta and his philosophy of giving.

This Christmas,  Art of Giving community goes to Salia Sahi slum to distribute clothes, blankets, and toys to the children. The joy of the children was indeed indescribable.  “As we celebrate the season and look forward to the New Year, let us resolve to do even more to build a world that is a little more generous, humane and kind,” said the AOG team members.

Why should Santa only belong to those who are blessed with fortune? AOG Community sends a surprising Santa to a slum out of blues!

The “Surprising Santa” collaborated with Kompassions (the garment bank), an AOG Initiative that collects the unused and obsolete clothing from the households and make it available for the poor at free of cost after reprocessing. The “Surprising Santa” distributed 500 processed clothes which were collected by KIIT Hospitality over a week to the children of Salia Sahi slum. KIIT Hospitality Department took up this noble initiative which Raj Shekhar Laha (AOG Convener) coordinated to execute.

In another AOG activity, the staff members of KIIT Student Activity Centre (KSAC) spent the Christmas with 120 deaf children at Shriharsha Mishra Sishu Vidyalaya, a deaf school in Bhubaneswar.  It started with a small pictorial presentation on Christmas and Art of Giving by Dr. Shyam Sundar Behura, Deputy Director, Student Services and the message was passed on to the children by their teacher in their gestural language. Then gifts and snacks were distributed among the children by the staff members of KSAC. All the staff members played the role of Santa with the Cap. Some productive time was spent with the children and it concluded with offering of thankfulness to the school and its teachers for extending an opportunity to spread love and happiness.

Like Santa Claus represents a man that gives freely, AOG activists thrive to give luxury to kids who can’t afford it.  Santa is a symbol of the greatest gifts of heaven and earth and AOG is a small stride to get there.
