KSPH Co-hosts State-level Capacity Building Workshop on National Multisectoral Action Plan for Prevention & Control of Non-Communicable Diseases

Considering the rising trend of the Non-Communicable Diseases (NCDs) and its risk factors which require interventions from multiple sectors, Govt. of India has prepared a National Multisectoral Action Plan (NMAP) for prevention and control of NCDs involving several non-health sectors. In this context, Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education & Research (PGIMER), Chandigarh, in collaboration with School of Public Health, KIIT Deemed to be University, Jagadguru Kripalu University and World Health Organization (WHO) India Office, organized a capacity building workshop for NMAP nodal officers for the Odisha State on September 22-24, 2021. 

The aim of the workshop was to strengthen multisectoral actions in Odisha by operationalizing the existing National Multi-sectoral Action Plans (MSAP). The workshop was inaugurated by Dr. Ajit Kumar Mohanty, Special Secretary (Public Health), Govt. of Odisha, who expressed his excitement for such a collaborative workshop. A total of 26 participants including representatives from 11 Departments of Government of Odisha, Project Team of PGIMER and KSPH and JK University representatives participated in the workshop. Prof. Dr. Sudhir Kumar Satpathy, Director, KIIT School of Public Health; Dr. Rajesh Kumar (Ex-Director PGIMER); Prof. Manmeet Kaur (PI of the workshop); Dr. B. K. Padhi (Asst Prof) from PGIMER and other resource persons from Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh & Tamil Nadu participated. Dr. Pratap Kumar Jena (Associate Professor) and Er. Jyoti Prakash (Project Associate) from KSPH also participated and co-managed the workshop.
