KIIT School of Public Health Starts Training Programme on “Risk Management and Prevention of Antibiotics Resistance”

he “Risk Management and Prevention of Antibiotics Resistance – PREVENT IT” Project is being implemented by the School of Public Health, KIIT-DU as a part of the PREVENT IT – consortium consisting of five Indian Universities, four European Universities and two Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs) supported by the Erasmus+ programme of European Union.

The project aims to converge academicians and NGOs to inculcate a sense of awareness towards Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR), judicious use of antimicrobials and the economic/health burden of AMR, among students, academicians, clinicians and population at large, which is aligned with India’s national action plan for AMR. One of the important components of the project is to introduce training curricula on AMR/Antibiotic Resistance (ABR) for the students in institutes of higher education.

The first training programme (online) of 36 hours duration, titled ‘Risk Management and Prevention of Antibiotic Resistance’ for the students of Master of Public Health, Master of Hospital Administration and doctoral students of Public Health of the School of Public Health was started on 23rd December 2020.

The session was administered by Prof. (Dr) Sudhir Kumar Satpathy, Director, and Assoc. Prof. Himanshu Sekhar Pradhan of School of Public Health. A pre-training assessment of the students was conducted before the start of the session. The training will continue for a month. Through this training programme, students will have a very good exposure on the subject – AMR/ABR, which is a burning global Public Health issue.
