Alumni Talk at KIIT School of Public Health

KIIT School of Public Health (KSPH), KIIT-DU conducted the second alumni talk under its Alumni Talk Series on 15th January 2022. The virtual talk was delivered by Ms. Smitimedha Das, an alumna of Master of Public Health (MPH) programme (2019-2021 batch). Ms. Das is currently working as Surveillance Coordinator with Jhpiego, a non-profit organization for international health affiliated with Johns Hopkins University at Aurangabad, Maharashtra. She is also the global ambassador under “This Is Public Health”, a campaign created by the Association of Schools and Programs of Public Health (ASPPH), USA to brand public health, raise awareness about education and career options in public health through student ambassadors, graduate fairs, partnerships, inter-professional activities, and other pipeline-building events for students.

In her talk, Ms. Das shared her experience and journey from a MPH student at KSPH to a public health professional amidst the Covid-19 pandemic. She expressed her happiness and gratitude to the faculty members and the staff of KSPH for their contribution and support for the study at KSPH and getting the placement. She also suggested to the students on ways to prepare for starting a career in Public Health and the skill sets which are expected by the employer from a graduated public health/hospital administration student. She also responded to the students’ queries.

Earlier, Prof. (Dr.) S. K. Satpathy, Director, KSPH, in his introductory remark, explained the objectives of the alumni talk series and welcomed the alumni speaker. Associate Prof. Himanshu Sekhar Pradhan spoke on the importance of strengthening the alumni network. The session was attended by the students, faculty members and the staff of KSPH.

The first talk under the series was organized on 15th December 2021. It was delivered by Ms. Priyanka Priyadarshini Mohapatra, an alumna of KSPH from Master of Hospital Administration (MHA) programme of 2018-2020 batch, who is currently working as a Senior Executive – Operations Dept., Aster Prime Hospital, Hyderabad.
