Workshop on “Mystery of Science” was inaugurated at KIIT Convention Centre

Kalinga Institute of Industrial Technology(KIIT) Deemed to be University, organized a Workshop on “ Mystery of Science” in collaboration with Indian Association of Nuclear Chemists & Allied Scientists-Eastern Region Chapter(IANCAS-ERC), Institute of Physics(IOP), Bhubaneswar.

The Inaugural Ceremony of the workshop was held on 3rd January, 2018 at Convention Centre, KIIT Campus-6. The principal aim of the workshop was to popularize the beneficial aspects of nuclear energy and applications of radioisotopes in Science, Technology, Agriculture and Health Care among the Academic Community.

The workshop entitled “Mystery of Science” provided a forum for students to interact with the Faculty Members and Scientists from Department of Atomic energy (DAE) and its units, various educational Institutions and research organizations in various fields of science including Nuclear Sciences.

Gracing the occasion as Chief Guest, Prof. Ashutosh Dash, Head, Radio Pharmaceuticals Division, BARC, Mumbai remarked that application of Radio Isotopes in health can help us diagnosing the disease Cancer correctly. Moreover, Radio Isotopes can be harnessed in diverse ways like agriculture and industry etc. which in turn can be utilized for the benefit of the mankind.

According to Prof. Sudhakar Panda, Director, IOP and also President, IANCAS-ERC, IOP, Bhubaneswar, there is no mystery with science as it is being used in unfolding the mystery of nature. Dr. Satyabrata Dutta, Program Officer, BARC, Mumbai said, “there is something mystery with science as nature is still mysterious.” He emphasized that it is nothing but our passion and commitment which will definitely fetch us success.

Placing his comments, the Chief Speaker on the occasion, Prof. D.P. Das, Head of Government Ayurvedic College, Puri said, “20 years ago, World Health Organization(WHO) made a slogan ‘Health for All’ and through this motto WHO urged us to develop our Regional Science and our traditional system of Medicine.”

Prof. Hrushikesha Mohanty, Vice Chancellor, KIIT Deemed to be University said that, this workshop is meant for exploring the Mystery of Science. We expect, the scientists present here would reveal the mystery related to science to some extent. While Dr. Prasant Rath, Associate Professor, welcomed the Guests, Dr. Rojalin Sahu, Associate Professor and Convener, IANCAS-ERC threw lights on the Agenda and placed the objectives of workshop before the audience.

Prof. Ramababu Kodali, Pro-Vice Chancellor, KIIT Deemed to be University and Dr. B. Mallick, Secretary of IANCAS-ERC, IOP, were also present among others and placed their views on the theme. Finally, Sri R.K. Rath, Registrar, Institute of Physics, Bhubaneswar proposed Vote of Thanks.
