KIIT University recently hosted a comprehensive day-long POSH Awareness and Sensitisation Workshop for its Internal Complaints Committee (ICC) members, Women Cell and Sensitisation Committee, reinforcing its institutional commitment to a zero-tolerance policy towards sexual harassment.

The workshop, facilitated by Ms. Smita Kanungo, an experienced soft skills corporate trainer and POSH specialist, focused on practical implementation of the Prevention of Sexual Harassment (POSH) Act, 2013. The highly interactive session covered vital areas such as what constitutes sexual harassment, legal formalities, ICC responsibilities, and redressal mechanisms.

Through case studies, role-play activities, and scenario-based assessments, participants were sensitised to the importance of empathy, confidentiality, and timely response. Ms. Smita emphasized that awareness is the first step toward prevention, especially in academic institutions where the diversity of stakeholders calls for ongoing dialogue and training.

The session also highlighted KIIT’s continuous efforts toward building a safe and respectful work and study environment, with structured POSH training planned year-round for senior management, faculty, staff, and students. Feedback from participants praised the workshop’s clarity and engagement, reinforcing the value of such capacity-building initiatives in nurturing a secure, inclusive and safe campus.
