KSOM Organizes National Curriculum Development Workshop

KIIT School of Management (KSOM) organized a National Curriculum Development Workshop in the area of Human Resource Management with top corporate HR leaders and academicians. With an intent to relook at the current MBA – HR Electives and bring in best practices through inclusive decision making, KSOM invited guests from the HR area who would help in co-developing the curriculum, co-deciding on pedagogical choices and co-building evaluation methods so that the School can build a program by the CHROs and have a larger buy-in from the corporate.

The one-day workshop was anchored by Dr. Tapan Panda, Pro-VC, KSOM & KSRM who guided the participants on the expected outcomes. The invited corporate guests were Mr. Gaurav Saini, Global CHRO, Wadhwani Foundation and Wadhwani AI Group; Mr. Swaraj Mishra, Senior Director/Global Head – Organizational Effectiveness and People Analytics, Pegasystems; Ms. Soni Mishra, Senior Director and Business HR Head, Crisil Ltd; Mr. Ashok Ranjith, Principal Director, Talent Acquisition, LTIMindtree; Mr. Ashootosh Chand, Partner – Digital & Emerging Technologies, PWC; Mr. Vinod Sivadas, India HR Head, Viasat; Mr. Sandip Mishra, CHRO – Prodapt; Ms. Bindu Venktesh, CHRO, Colortokens. Renowned academicians Dr. Vidyanand Jha, IIM Calcutta and Prof. Snigdha Pattnaik, Independent Consultant & Trainer also participated in the workshop.

The format of the workshop was participative and consultative decision making, backed up by presentations to provide desired inputs. The rationale behind the workshop is a growing demand for HR specialization among students. The University decided to offer super specialization in the area of HRM, where the courses will be co-designed by industry participants, co-taught through a co-educator model, and students will be mentored by the industry leaders in the domain area. KSOM aims to blend academic rigor with industry practices, while developing the curriculum, designing pedagogy and newer evaluation methods so that the course can be taken as close as possible to the industry requirement. 

The workshop was led by Dr. Isa Mishra, Area Chair, HR & OB, KSOM along with Dr. Sumita Mishra, Dean; Prof. Joydeep Biswas, Placement Head; Dr. Malabika Sahoo, HR & OB; and Dr. Ipsita Nayak, General Management Area. The workshop had three interactive sessions with reading and discussion breaks during the technical sessions attended by faculty from KSOM and KSRM.
