KIMS Dietetics Department Celebrates “National Nutrition Week 2021”
The National Nutrition Week was celebrated on 1st week of September 2021 at KIMS Dietetics Department. The week is observed to spread awareness about the importance of nutrition, healthy diet and healthy lifestyle. The Food and Nutrition Board had launched National Nutrition Week for the first time in 1982. It is celebrated with a specific theme every year. The theme of this year’s celebration is “Feeding Smart Right from the Start”. On 8th March 2018, the Hon’ble Prime Minister of India in his monthly radio address mentioned about “Posan Maah” and from that day onwards India celebrates September as National Nutrition Month.
As a part of the celebrations, different programs were organized in various departments of KIMS on 1st and 2nd September 2021. Quiz, Healthy Recipe, Poster Competition, etc. were also held. Maj. Gen. Dr. Pradip Kumar Pattanaik, Brig. Dr. Ambika Prasad Mohanty, Mr. Dillip Kumar Panda, Group Captain Binaya Bhusan Mohanty, Mr. Ashok Kumar Panda, Dr. Chandan Kumar Ray Mohapatra inaugurated the event followed by the welcome address by Dietician Ms. Santoshirani Sahoo. Winners were awarded with prizes.
The event had two eminent speakers, Dietician Ms. Monalisha Rout and Dr. Chandan Kumar Ray Mohapatra. They shared their knowledge and highlighted health and nutrition. The vote of thanks was proposed by Dietician Ms. Sushri Tapaswini Das. The event was managed by Dietician Ms. Swetalina Das, Dietician Ms. Kumari Sonam Singh, Dietician Ms. Santoshirani Sahoo, Dietician Ms. Sushree Tapaswini Das and Dietician Ms. Monalisa Rout.
