IQAC, KIIT-DU Organizes Hands-on Workshop on “Capstone Project and Impact to Industry”

The Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC), KIIT-DU conducted a Hands-on Workshop on “Capstone Project and Impact to Industry” on 5th May 2022. Dr. Krishna Dev Kumar, Professor & Director of Artificial Intelligence for Aerospace Lab, Toronto Metropolitan University, Canada was invited as the Resource Person for the workshop.

Dr. Kumar highlighted the different components of a capstone project – formation of student groups, identification of problems, goal, need and ultimate outcomes. Any project must have an impact on industry as well as society, he emphasized. Timeline for completion of the project is very important and should be made well in advance. He displayed some videos on live projects related to satellite and design analysis tools.

Dr. Kumar visited research laboratories of some Schools and he was impressed with the research activities and infrastructure of KIIT-DU. During discussion with Prof. Sasmita Samanta, Vice Chancellor, KIIT-DU, suggested KIIT to have a Centre for Interdisciplinary Research which may add values for Capstone Project and expressed his willingness to be associated with KIIT for different research activities.

At the outset, Dr. Chinmoy Kumar Panigrahi, Director, Quality Assurance & Professor, KIIT School of Electrical Engineering briefed on different research activities across the University. Dr. Kumar suggested faculty participants  do product-based research which will benefit industry, KIIT and society. During the workshop, Prof. B. Routara, Dean, KIIT School of Mechanical Engineering; Prof. S. Pattanayak, Dean, KIIT School of Biotechnology; Dr. B. Mishra, Dean, Quality Assurance and faculty members from all Schools (both Engineering and Medical) were present. The workshop was participatory and immensely informative.
