The 6th Edition of the IEEE PES R10 Meet and Greet Event and the Two-Day IEEE PES R10 Global Workshop 2025 commenced with an esteemed panel of speakers, including Mythili Chaganti, Vice President of Chapters & Membership, IEEE; Er. Prasanta Kumar Pattanaik, Director (Operation), OPTCL, Bhubaneswar; Prof. Debashis Bandyopadhyay, Vice Chancellor, KISS DU; Dr. Ramakrishna Kappagantu, IEEE PES Region 10 Representative; Prof. S. N. Singh, IEEE Region 10 (West) PES Chapters’ Coordinator and Director of ABV-IIITM Gwalior; Dr. VSK Murthy Balijepalli (Krish), Secretary, IEEE PES Region 10; Prof. S.R. Samantaray, Chair, IEEE Bhubaneswar Section; Prof. Jnyana Ranjan Mohanty, Registrar, KIIT DU; Prof. Ashok Kumar Tripathy; Prof. P.K. Prof. Debashis Bandyopadhyay, Vice Chancellor, KISS DU underscored the critical role of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and energy storage in achieving NetZero carbon emissions, a vital step in combating climate change. Prof. Jnyana Ranjan Mohanty praised the organizing teams from the IEEE PES Chapters of the U.P. and Bhubaneswar Sections for their dedication, calling on students, professionals, and academics to seize the unique opportunities IEEE offers.
Er. Prasanta Kumar Pattanaik highlighted how AI and energy storage contribute to building a resilient, flexible, and sustainable energy infrastructure by enabling greater renewable energy integration and improving efficiency, thereby accelerating the global transition to NetZero. Mythili Chaganti echoed these views, emphasizing AI’s role in optimizing renewable energy management through predictive analytics and grid efficiency.
Dr. Ramakrishna Kappagantu provided insights into the history of the IEEE Global Workshop and commended the collaborative efforts of both PES Chapters. Prof. S. N. Singh passionately described IEEE as a bridge connecting innovators and fostering transformative technologies that will define the future.
Dr. VSK Murthy Balijepalli stressed the Bhubaneswar Section’s role as a catalyst in Odisha’s tech ecosystem, encouraging the use of IEEE’s global network to showcase regional talent internationally. Prof. Subhransu Ranjan Samantaray highlighted initiatives such as conferences, workshops, and access to leading research that empower students and professionals alike.
At the valedictory function held on 31st May 2025, Sri Kalyan Mohanty, Executive Director of IPICOL, Bhubaneswar, was invited as the Chief Guest. During his address, he highlighted Odisha’s strategic focus on the defence and aerospace sectors, underscoring the state’s strong commitment to these industries and the promising opportunities they present for investors.
The event opened with a warm welcome from Dr. Gururaj Mirle Vishwanath, Chair, IEEE PES Chapter, U.P. Section. The IEEE Global Workshop Brochure 2025 was officially released by the dignitaries. The vote of thanks was delivered by Prof. Chinmoy Kumar Panigrahi, Vice Chair, IEEE Bhubaneswar Section. Chapter Chairs of PES societies from IEEE Kerala Section, IEEE Delhi Section, IEEE Bangalore Section, IEEE Madhya Pradesh Section, and IEEE Rourkela Subsection, along with industry experts, IEEE Student Volunteers, and Faculty Coordinators from various institutes within the Bhubaneswar Section, also actively participated in the event.
