Online International Conference-2020 on “COVID-19: Lives and Livelihood” concludes at KIIT

An Online International Conference on “COVID-19: LIVES AND LIVELIHOOD” was being organized by School of Commerce and Economics, KIIT Deemed to be University through virtual platform (Zoom Meeting)on 5th and 6th May, 2020. The Conference resumed today with 3 parallel technical sessions from 11 AM to 1:30 PM and 3 PM to 5 PM followed by a valedictory session.

More than 90 research papers were presented by participants from various disciplines across the country and globe. The 3 parallel sessions from 11 AM to 1.30 PM and 3PM to 5 PM was conducted by Prof. Debabrata Mitra, Professor, Sikkim University; Prof. Kishore Kumar Basa, Former Professor, Utkal University; Prof. Md. Khalid Azam, Professor, Aligarh Muslim University; Prof. Ranjan Kumar Bal, Former Professor, Utkal University; Prof. Biswambar Mishra, North Eastern Hilly University, Shillong; Prof. T.K. Pani, Ravenshaw University; Prof. Twinkle Prusty, Professor, Faculty of Commerce, Banaras Hindu University; Prof. Santosh Mohapatra, Prof. Sampad Swain, Professor & Head, Department of Tourism & Management, Pondicherry University; Prof. R.K. Swain, Utkal University; Prof. Navin Mathur, Former Vice Chancellor, Jagannath University, Jaipur; and Prof. J.K. Jain, University of Sagar, M.P as Chairpersons and Keynote speakers respectively. All the sessions were followed by a question answer round, where all the presenters and participants gave their valuable and informative input about the topic.

Following the technical session, a valedictory session was carried on. There were 5 distinguished personalities and more than 100 delegates present in this virtual session. At the outset, Prof. Jayanta Kumar Parida, Director, QAC, KIIT-DU & Organizing Secretary of the Conference welcomed all the dignitaries and participants with warm wishes. In his report, he mentioned 153 papers by 250 authors from 22 states of India and 8 countries of the world covering 20 sectors were presented during these 2 days of the conference.

Prof. Asoka Kumar Das, Vice Chairman, OSHEC, Formerly, VC, Utkal University and Distinguished Scientist, Bhabha Atomic Research Centre highlighted most crucial and relevant issues of the current juncture due to COVID 19 and suggested for brief proceedings of the conference. Prof. Radhe Shyam Pradhan, Academic Director, Uniglobe College, Kathmandu, Nepal cited the whole picture of Nepal Government’s measures in this pandemic period and lives as well as livelihood of the country’s citizens.

Finally, the concluding remarks were made by Prof. Sasmita Samanta, Pro-Vice Chancellor, KIIT-DU & Conference Director. She extended her sincere gratitude to all the resource persons, keynote speakers, paper presenters and all the participants of the conference. She pointed out the key issues and challenges of these two day Online International Conference with best possible measures. All the faculty members of the School of Commerce and Economics were actively engaged and put their sincere efforts to make the seminar a grand success.
