KISS-DU Hosts NASI-KISS Conference 2025 on “Quality Education for All”
On June 30, 2025, KISS Deemed to be University, Bhubaneswar, hosted the NASI-KISS Conference 2025, jointly organized by the National Academy of Sciences, India (NASI), Prayagraj, and KISS-DU. This powerful collaboration brought together leading academics, scientists, and student researchers to explore the role of education and science in creating a more equitable and sustainable world. The conference was patronized by the Founder of KIIT, KISS & KIMS, Prof. Achyuta Samanta.
The theme, “Quality Education for All,” resonated with global and national priorities, including the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 4 (Quality Education), and India’s National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, which emphasizes inclusive and equitable education. KISS-DU’s unique focus on indigenous knowledge systems, tribal culture, and sustainable development made it an ideal host.
In his address, Professor Debashis Bandyopadhyay, Vice Chancellor of KISS-DU, emphasized the university’s mission to empower indigenous students and its role as a global model for inclusive education. Professor Gopal C. Kundu, Secretary of NASI Odisha Chapter, provided insights into NASI’s efforts to promote scientific research and its relevance to societal challenges. Dr. Prashanta Kumar Routray, Registrar of KISS-DU, highlighted the administrative support for academic excellence and the university’s commitment to tribal empowerment. Professor S.P. Adhikary, Professor Emeritus at KISS-DU, shared perspectives on the intersection of education and indigenous knowledge systems. Professor Arun K. Ray, Director of Academics at KIIT Deemed to be University, discussed the broader academic ecosystem and the importance of collaborative initiatives.
The academic proceedings of the day included two high-powered Plenary Sessions. Professor G. C. Kundu, Dr. Vimal K. Pandey, Associate Professor at KISS-DU, Dr. Soma Chattopadhyay, Scientist-F at the Institute of Life Sciences, Bhubaneswar, Dr. Sakir Ahmed, Associate Professor at KIMS, Dr. Ramya Pinnamaneni, Director of KIIT School of Public Health, Professor Ashok K. Sahoo, Director of R&D (Tech) at KIIT-DU, and Dr. Tanushree Das, Assistant Professor at KISS-DU participated in the sessions.
A key highlight of the conference was the active participation of over 40 KISS research scholars from diverse scientific disciplines. Their insightful oral presentations demonstrated a remarkable depth of inquiry and innovation on issues relating to life sciences, public health, physical, chemical sciences, mathematics, etc. The session showcased the vibrant research culture nurtured at KISS-DU and inspired rich dialogue among participants. To recognize academic excellence and encourage young researchers, the organizing committee presented the Best Oral Presentation Awards to five outstanding scholars for their contributions. The event concluded with a Valedictory and Prize Distribution Ceremony.
